Fes Medina Guided Day Tour
The world's largest car-free medina, decoded by a licensed local guide: tanneries, madrasas, the Mellah and the pottery quarter.
How the day goes
Morning: pickup from your riad or hotel and a panoramic start at the Merinid tombs viewpoint over the whole medina. Then descend on foot into Fes el-Bali with your licensed guide: the Bou Inania and Al-Attarine madrasas, the dye pits and weaving quarters, and the famous Chouara tannery terraces.
Midday: pass the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque-university โ admired from the outside, as non-Muslim visitors do not enter โ and lunch in a medina restaurant at your own pace.
Afternoon: the Mellah (historic Jewish quarter) with its distinct architecture, the pottery and zellige quarter where artisans still fire and cut tile by hand, and the souks for brass, leather and textiles โ with honest guidance on fair prices and no pressure to buy.
Evening: return to your riad. Without a guide the medina is a maze; with one, it becomes the most rewarding day of a Morocco trip.
