Erg Chebbi is Morocco's most famous dune field, near the village of Merzouga. These massive golden dunes rise up to 150 meters and stretch for about 50 kilometers. Most travelers choose Merzouga for their first Sahara experience — and for good reason.

Erg Chigaga (Zagora) – The Wild Alternative

Erg Chigaga is located near Zagora, about 7 hours from Marrakech. The dunes are slightly smaller but spread over a vast area. The last 2 hours are on rough desert tracks — the journey itself is an adventure.

• ✓ Off-road adventure to reach it

❌ Cons:

• ✗ Harder to reach — 4x4 required
• ✗ Fewer camp options
• ✗ Dunes not as high as Erg Chebbi
